Overnight Lip Mask

Retail Price $20

My lips get so dry once the weather gets cold, so this came at the perfect time! I tried it out as soon as I opened the box and loved how soft and moisturized it made my lips feel. It is a little thick and sticky feeling, but I can get past that since it works so well.

Resurfacing Face Serum

Retail Price $70

I decided to gift this one to my mom because I already have more skin care products than I can use!

Makeup Remover Towelettes

Retail Price $20

These makeup removing towelettes aren’t horrible, but I don’t love them either. They are soft, but have a smell that I don’t like. I would not pay $20 a pack for these.

Spackle Skin Perfecting Primer: Hydrate

Retail Price $32

I just got a primer last month, so I’m not opening this one up until I finish that one.

Milk & Honey Highlighting Palette

Retail Price $38

This palette is beautiful! I don’t use highlighter on a daily bases, but I will use it. I got a similar palette last month, but I like this one better.

Overall, I didn’t love this month’s box. I did like it enough to feel like I got my money worth, but I was disappointed to get very similar items two months in a row. If you get have a subscription, I’d love to hear what you thought of this month’s box!

My August BoxyCharm Box

My August BoxyCharm Box

I recently signed up for a BoxyCharm subscription. BoxyCharm offers 5 full-size beauty products each month for just $25. Today, I want to share what was in my August box.

KATE SOMERVILLE ExfoliKate® Glow Moisturizer (retail price: $70)

I have not tried this one out yet. I signed up mid July, so I got July’s box shortly before I got this one and I’m still using the amazing skin care products from that box.

DITO COSMETICS LIMITED EDITION VENUS 12 Shade Palette (retail price: $29.99)

I absolutely love this palette! I would definitely pay the retail price. The glitter shadows are super pretty and all the pigments last well.

PURLISSE Ageless Glow Serum (retail price $38)

I absolutely love this stuff! It makes my skin feel so soft while offering the perfect amount of tint.

EARTH HARBOR AQUA AURA Reparative Eye Crème (retail price $34)

I just tried this for the first time today. It was okay. I didn’t love how it smelled. I probably wouldn’t pay the retail price to buy it again, but I will use it.

MANNA KADAR Hydration Happy Face Mist (retail price $19)

This spray is my least favorite thing from the box. It didn’t make my face happy at all. It felt kind of gross on my skin.

Overall, I am really happy with this box and can’t wait to see what September has in store.

I’d love to hear from you! Have you gotten August’s box? If so, what did you think?

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect, But You Do Have To Be You

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect, But You Do Have To Be You

While most people think self-acceptance is the same thing as self-esteem, the two are actually quite different. Self-esteem is the value we have in who we are, while self-acceptance is our ability to embrace all aspects of ourselves. Simply put, it means both understanding your value and fully embracing your personality and actions.

It is not enough to just accept the positive in yourself. To truly experience self-acceptance; you must also accept your quirks and weaknesses. It is not easy to accept the things we may not like about ourselves, but once we start accepting who we really are, we can begin the process of meaningful self-improvement. Self-acceptance can be difficult at first, but here are a few suggestions to help you along the journey!

Don’t Rush Things

The process of accepting yourself takes time. It is not easy but loving the person you are will make you happier. Not only will you feel more at peace with yourself, but you will connect better with others as well. Once you accept yourself, you will have an easier time finding others who also embrace you for you. Learning to accept yourself begins with understanding that one does not have to achieve perfection and that it is okay to simply exist just the way you are. A great first step is learning to accept your mistakes and to acknowledge that both good and bad things are part of life.

Get To Know Yourself

Many people have no idea who they truly are. Self-discovery is a necessary step towards self-acceptance.  Even though a lot of us can love and accept others as they are, we still harshly judge ourselves. I believe that is because humans hate to recognize our own weaknesses. Once we truly get to know ourselves, we can choose to accept everything that makes us unique. Journaling is an amazing way to get to discover more about yourself. Try to set aside fifteen or twenty minutes a day just to write out your feelings and thoughts!

Accept That There Are Things You Can’t Change

There are things you can do to change your life for the better, but there are also things that will never change. Wishing that you could change things that will never change is just a waste of time and energy.

To be happy with who we are, we must let ourselves accept all who we are, flaws and all. Take the time to be kind to yourself and learn to overcome that inner voice that says “you are not good enough”.

Forgive Yourself

In order to forgive ourselves, we have to admit that we have made mistakes in the past. This is incredibly difficult, but it is also a crucial step towards self-acceptance. As long as we feel like we are not good enough to deserve forgiveness, self-acceptance can seem difficult. Remember that mistakes and failures are part of being human. They also help us learn and grow. Every misstep is a stepping stone on your path through life. Take responsibility, acknowledge your mistakes, and try to use those mistakes to work towards better choices in the future.

As you learn to accept yourself, you will also be able to work towards becoming the best version of yourself you can be. This will bring you happiness and success.

Ways To Cut Down On Your Pandemic Stress

Ways To Cut Down On Your Pandemic Stress

This year has been both incredibly short and incredibly long all at once. Social distancing, lack of childcare, and the thought of possibly getting sick has caused me a huge amount of stress and anxiety. At the same time, I can not believe the year is about to come to an end. I feel like we just celebrated my daughter’s third birthday and now she is about to turn four! A return to normal feels so close, yet so far away. Today, I want to share five things you can do to take care of yourself physically and mentally while you wait for normalcy to return to your life.

Declutter Your Home

I don’t know about you, but I am finding cleaning difficult since my daughter is not currently in preschool. I have been working towards getting rid of things that we do not need because it is easier to clean if we have less stuff laying around! Every December, we also do a deep declutter in my daughter’s playroom. This year, I must get rid of more than usual because being stuck at home all these months led to extra online shopping and she’ll require room for all the new toys that she’ll be getting for Christmas and her birthday!

Cut Down on Alcohol and Junk Food

I know this may be a hard one! Making healthy choices boosts your immune system and just overall makes you feel better. I gained way more weight than I want to talk about during the first few months of the pandemic, so now I’m working towards a healthier lifestyle again.

Look for Ways to Assist Others

In a time when it is easy to feel very hopeless, you may find some joy in helping others. I know that I always feel better about a bad situation when I feel useful. Helping others doesn’t have to be expensive either! It could be as simple as donating some things you no longer need or leaving a little hand made gift on someone’s doorstep!

Be Kind to Yourself

When practicing self-care, don’t forget the “self” part. The language you use when thinking about yourself is important. Take time to appreciate how well you are doing in these exceedingly difficult times.

Use Less Social Media

Social media is a great way to connect with friends and family in a safe way. It can also very easily become time consuming. I have had to learn to use social media very intentionally. I have also removed about 50 people that I never speak to in person from my Facebook friends list because the content they shared just didn’t add any value to my timeline.

I hope these tips can help you as we head into 2021. I’d love to hear from you! How are you doing? What are you looking forward to most once all the restrictions are lifted?
