Water Your Own Grass: Four Ways To Get Closer To Your Dream Life

When things aren’t going well, it’s super easy to focus on other people’s lives and see all the things that you don’t currently have. In a world obsessed with social media perfection, it can often feel like other people have better lives. Other people are out there living their dream life and you just have no idea to get there yourself!

As the old saying goes, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

I think in all of our hearts, we know that isn’t actually true, but it is so hard not to look around and feel like our own lives are lacking something.

Today, I want to share four ways that you can “water your own grass”.

Look around for inspiration instead of competition.

It is okay to look at other lawns, just remember to use it as motivation to get yours greener instead of focusing in on what you don’t have yet. Someone might always be better than you at something and that is okay. Just find a way to do things your own way. You are a unique person and there is always at least one thing that you can do in a way no one else does!

Put in the work.

If you want to live the life of your dreams, it takes work. Get out the tools you need, gain knowledge, start finding ways to step out of your comfort zone, and you will succeed when the time is right!

In our society, instant gratification is often preferred, but if you give up too quickly, you may miss out on achieving your goals!

Evaluate your relationships.

Not every person in your life is meant to be there. That can be a hard thing to confront. In order to get your greenest grass, you’ll need to assess those in your life and make sure you are getting the support you need. If someone is taking way more than they give, there is nothing wrong with distancing yourself from the. No one wants a yard full of weeds!

Put yourself first sometimes.

Just like plants, we all go through a dormant period. This doesn’t mean that progress won’t happen, it just means we need to rest and prepare for the next season of growth. During these dormant periods, it is super important to invest in yourself! Take it as a time to engage in extra self-care and to mentally prepare for the success that will follow.

I’d love to hear from you! How are you watering your own grass this week?
