It has been awhile since we have done an open ended shape activity, so we thought that the last activity of the pet theme we have been doing should be an open ended shape cat!

Materials Needed
- Construction Paper (We used Brown and Black for the cat and yellow for the background. Our toddler picked out the brown for her cat)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Googly Eyes
- A Marker or Crayon
We started by cutting out a variety of shapes. We used brown for the body of the cat and black for the whiskers. You can also use multiple colors if you want.

Next, we let our toddler pick out shapes and helped her put them onto the paper. The older your child is, the less help they will need with this. We encouraged our toddler to name each shape as she glued it on the paper.

After our toddler finished putting the shapes together, we gave her googly eyes to put on.

Once everything dried, we helped her draw on a nose and a mouth.

Book Suggestions
Children often get more engaged in an activity or art project when it is paired with a book. Here are some suggestions to go with this activity!
If your little one likes this activity, don’t forget to check out the open ended shape dinosaur or the open ended shape fish!
