Making That Special Monthly Time Easier

Tonight, we are departing a bit from our normal activities. The goal of this blog is to post content for the average, non perfect mom. I don’t know about you all, but there is no time that I am less perfect than when I’m on my period. Sorry dads, this post might not be of interest for you, but if it is, you are welcome to keep reading as well! Mr. Not So Crafty is a skilled feminine hygiene product buyer and it makes me fall in love with him more every time! Here are a few ways to make your time with your often unwelcome monthly visitor more tolerable.

**We received a free sample of products from Seventh Generation through the Generation Good Community. We are not being paid in monetary value for any review or social media advertising. I did love the products I was sent, so I will be talking about them. No statement made in this post should be taken as medical advice.**

Stay Hydrated

Even though you probably already feel like you are retaining water like crazy, you will feel much better if you stay well hydrated.  The more water you drink, the less water your body may feel like it needs to hang onto.

It is so tempting to just curl up into a ball and not move during your period, but that is a terrible idea. Your body will appreciate some light or moderate exercise. Walking is my personal go to way to help cramps ease up a little bit.

Trust Your Products

Good, reliable feminine hygiene products are so important! Seventh Generation offers some amazing organic cotton, chlorine free pads, pantiliners and tampons! The prices are very affordable and the quality is amazing. If you have a fragrance sensitivity or allergy, these may be perfect for you!

I hope these simple tips may help make next month a little more manageable. Do you have a tip you’d like to share? Please leave it in the comments!

  1. I struggle to stay hudrated, I just hate drinking water and on top of that I drink so much coffee that I make it worse. Thank you for the reminder and the great tips!

  2. I am always so thankful for my IUD and making personal hygiene a million times easier. But I struggle with what to have in the house should friends or family need anything, so I’ll have to pick this up!

    1. ABSOLUTELY!!! This was one unexpected side effect of getting my first IUD when our family was complete. Have not had a period since before I got pregnant with my now 6yo!

  3. Water and exercise are always key for me, too. I recently switched to no-waste options (a cup and reusable pads) and it has been life changing! I’m glad to know that there are some available, though, without all the chemicals for when my sister comes to visit and needs products.

  4. No matter what time of the month it is, I always struggle to stay hydrated. Whether it be headaches from my period or bloating due to unhealthy eating habits, water is always the game changer. Thank you for the reminder to get drinking!

  5. Yes girl! We need these good high quality products.

Hydration is so important. And as for trusting products, there seem to be some a lot better to use than others (so I’ve heard)! Thanks for sharing this.

  7. This is so funny how I am teaching my kids to stay hydrated and I don’t practice what I preach. Thanks for sharing such a great post.

  8. Hydration is so important always! I love Seventh Generation products, but have never tried these. I’ll have to check them out.

  9. I always try to stay hydrated but I definitely feel like I need to drink more at that time of the month. I’ve never heard of Seventh Generation but will check them out…

  10. Your comment about staying hydrated is KEY. People always think if they are retaining water then they shouldn’t be drinking more… which is completely false. If your body is holding onto water you are more than likely dehydrated and need to be drinking more! Great post.

  11. Hyrdration is so so important! During that time of the month, I always cut myself some slack and try to relax more than usual! -Tonya Morris
